Which Are The Best Blinds For Light Control?

When it comes to light control, blinds are an excellent solution. There are many benefits to having blinds fitted in your home, but their main function is to regulate how much or how little light enters your room. Once upon a time, blinds simply offered an all-or-nothing solution – open or closed – but now there are so many different styles of blinds to choose from, it’s difficult to know where to start.

Luckily, we’re here to help! If you want to know which blinds offer the best light control, read on. We’ve narrowed down the choice to give you a breakdown of the best options available and the benefits they offer.

Room Darkening Blinds

Room darkening blinds are great if you’re looking to keep the light OUT!

Have you got kids that love to fight bedtimes? When it comes to summer nights, it can be a nightmare trying to get them to bed. The expression “But it’s still light outside” can haunt you for months until the clocks go back in winter. If you’re looking light control in little ones’ bedrooms, then room-darkening blinds are what you need. Check out our blog The Best Children’s Bedrooms Blinds for more details.

Room darkening blinds are not only great for keeping the light out when you are trying to get your children to sleep, but they are also great if you want a lie-in and don’t want to wake up at the crack of dawn when it’s getting light early. They can also help you get a better night’s sleep all round, blocking out any artificial light from the outside world.

Room darkening blinds can also be used in your living room to help you shift from bright days to cosy evenings with a simple roll of a blind!

Perfect Fit Blinds

Perfect Fit blinds are good for light control because they solve the problem of stray light creeping around the corners of your blinds. They sit within a frame that simply clicks into place between the glazing and the frame of your window. Because they are fully integrated into the window or door, they also won’t flap around in the wind as other blinds can. You can therefore ensure you have full control over the light in your room, without the outside elements ruining the effect!

One of the main benefits of Perfect Fit blinds is that they are easy to fit. No screws, no drills – they just click into place. This makes them a great option for rented properties.

So if you’re looking for full control over the light in your room, without having to drill any holes or clean up any mess, Perfect Fit blinds are probably the best option for you!

INTU Blinds

INTU blinds have many of the same benefits as Perfect Fit blinds. They are also fully integrated into the window or door, eradicating any problems of residual light around the sides of the blinds or flapping in the wind. They are also extremely easy to install with no screws or fixings to make a mess of the walls or frames around the window.

The main difference between Perfect Fit and INTU blinds is that INTU blinds don’t have a frame. Instead, they are attached to a headrail, which is fixed to the top of the window. Side supports ensure the blinds integrate seamlessly with the window.

Some prefer Perfect Fit blinds as the frame helps create a more seamless window covering, making them an ideal choice for light control. However, the downside of the frame is that it takes up more of the window, and, therefore, the view, so for some, INTU blinds offer a better solution. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference, but when it comes to light control, they are both extremely effective solutions.

Venetian Blinds

Venetian blinds are a timeless classic, offering a simple solution to filter the sunlight in your home. The horizontal slats are highly effective at regulating the light entering the room and can be positioned in a range of ways. For example, if you position the slats upwards you can filter out the glare of the sunlight whilst enjoying an uplifting glow.

With Venetian blinds, you also have the option of what size slat width you would like. The narrower the slat, the more subtle the light transfer, whereas bigger slats will let in more light and make the most of the light outside.

At Just Blinds, we offer classic wooden Venetian blinds or if you’re looking for something a bit different, we also have a range of aluminium blinds available in bold, vibrant colours.

Allusion Blinds

If you’re looking for blinds that allow you to control the light entering the room whilst still being able to enjoy the view from your window or patio door, Allusion blinds are the answer. The sheer, opaque material used in Allusion blinds allows you to filter the daylight but also take in the pleasure of your view.

Allusion shades are perfect for large patio doors and windows where it can be difficult to find a shade that looks right. Because of the opaque fabric, they are not as imposing as other blinds, so look great in large, full-length windows.

So if you’re looking for great light control, without compromising on the views outside, Allusion blinds offer a great solution. They can also be closed entirely when you’re looking for extra privacy and security, so you really are getting the best of all worlds!

Vision Blinds

In a similar way to Allusion blinds, Vision blinds allow you to enjoy the outside views, whilst still controlling the light inside.

Vision blinds consist of two layers of opaque and translucent woven strips, which can be moved independently and slide past one another to create different levels of light in the room. When fully open, they create a bold, stylish stripe effect, making a real feature of your window.

Vision blinds are perfect for filtering the light but maintaining privacy, so you can enjoy the natural daylight whilst getting on with day-to-day tasks in private.

If you’re looking for blinds that combine a modern, stylish design, with great functionality and light control, Vision Blinds are the answer! They are available in a range of fabrics and colours to suit any room in your home.
