Ordering made-to-measure blinds is exciting.
But once the paperwork is signed and the deposit is paid, many homeowners naturally ask:
“What happens next?”
If you’re wondering what happens after you order your blinds, here’s a transparent look at the process, including realistic lead times for each style:
- Your Order Is Finalised and Checked
Once your order is confirmed, every measurement and specification is carefully reviewed.
This includes:
- Exact dimensions / Technical Survey
- Control side selection
- Fabric or slat choice
- Colour confirmation
- Motorisation details (if applicable)
Accuracy here prevents problems later.
- Your Blinds Are Sent to Manufacturing
Your blinds are then submitted to the relevant manufacturer.
Different styles are made in different facilities, which is why lead times vary.
Here’s a general guide:
- Fauxwood & Wood Venetians: 2–4 weeks
- Roman Blinds: 3–5 weeks
- Roller Blinds: 4–6 weeks (made in our in house factory)
- Vertical Blinds: 3–4 weeks (made in our in house factory)
- Vision / Day & Night Blinds: 4–6 weeks (made in our in house factory)
- Allusion Blinds: 3–5 weeks
- Curtains: 3–5 weeks
- Perfect Fit Blinds: Pleated 3-5 weeks/Venetian 3-4 weeks (most made in our in house factory)
- Shaped Pleated Blinds: Approximately 6–8 weeks depending on configuration
Please note these are average timeframes and can vary slightly during peak periods.
- Materials Are Prepared
Once in production, your blinds are:
- Cut to exact measurements
- Assembled to specification
- Quality checked
- Packaged securely
Shaped pleated blinds typically take longer due to their bespoke configuration and precision requirements.
- Delivery to Our Warehouse
After manufacturing, your blinds are delivered to us.
At this stage, we:
- Check quantities
- Inspect for damage
- Confirm specifications
- Log them into our system
Only once everything is correct do we arrange installation.
- Installation Appointment Is Scheduled
As soon as your blinds arrive and pass inspection, our team will contact you to arrange your installation appointment.
At this stage, we will also request the remaining balance payment to secure your fitting date.
We do this for two simple reasons:
- Your blinds are bespoke and cannot be returned or resold
- Installation time is allocated specifically to your home
Once the balance is settled, your installation slot is confirmed and reserved.
This ensures:
- Your fitting proceeds without delay
- Our installers’ schedules remain organised
- There are no last minute administrative issues
We aim to:
- Offer flexible fitting dates
- Confirm arrival windows
- Ensure minimal disruption
We do not book installation before products arrive, this avoids cancellations or changes if delivery schedules shift.
- Installation Day
On fitting day, our installers will:
- Protect surrounding areas where necessary
- Install blinds securely
- Check alignment and function
- Demonstrate operation
- Answer any final questions
- Remove all rubbish including old blinds if you don’t wish to keep them.
Installation is usually straightforward and completed within a few hours depending on the number of windows.
- Final Checks and Adjustments
Before leaving, we ensure:
- All blinds operate smoothly
- Controls are positioned correctly
- Motorisation is programmed
- You are happy with the result
If anything needs adjusting, it’s handled immediately where possible and reported back to the office.
- Aftercare and Support
After installation, you’ll receive:
- Care guidance
- Warranty information
- A point of contact for any future questions
Made-to-measure blinds are designed to last, but support is always available should you need it.
Why Do Lead Times Vary?
Lead times depend on:
- Product complexity
- Material sourcing
- Manufacturing schedules
- Seasonal demand
- Shipping logistics
For example, shaped pleated blinds take longer because they are engineered to fit unusual angles and configurations.
Venetians are typically quicker due to streamlined production processes.
We believe in giving realistic timeframes rather than optimistic ones because protecting trust matters more than promising the fastest turnaround.
Final Thoughts
What happens after you order your blinds isn’t mysterious, it’s a structured process designed to ensure precision and quality.
Made-to-measure products take time because they are built specifically for your home.
Understanding the process and the realistic lead times for each blind style helps you plan with confidence and avoid unnecessary frustration.
If timing is critical for a renovation or move in date, always mention this during your consultation so expectations can be managed properly from the start.
